The Agency was formed in April, 1982, by Gaston J. Wood and R. Lamar Wilson. Initially, the agency primarily wrote real estate accounts and oil and gas insurance. Soon, however, the company began to diversify, and now we write a broad spectrum of insurance covering all lines, including commercial, personal, and life and health risks.
Lamar Wilson is native of St. Petersburg, Florida, and a graduate of Florida State University. He moved to Dallas in 1972, and was in the commercial real estate business until joining Arthur L. Owen Insurance Agency in January, 1976. He was with the Owen Agency until the formation of Wood-Wilson Company in April, 1982. Lamar is a graduate of the Kemper and the SAFECO Commercial Insurance Schools. Lamar has been named a Five Star Insurance Professional since 2016.
Bruce Klingman was reared in Dallas and is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. He represents the fourth consecutive generation of his family in the insurance business in Dallas. He spent seven years in the surplus lines insurance brokerage business before entering the agency business with Marsh, Inc. Bruce has been with Wood-Wilson since 1990 and became a partner in 2008.
The late Joe Wood was a native Texan and a 1961 graduate of North Texas State College. with extensive experience in claims management and agency ownership before forming Wood-Wilson in April, 1981, which he ran as a sole proprietor until joining with Lamar Wilson in 1982. Joe retired in 2009 and passed away in 2013. Joe retired in 2009 and passed away in 2013.
On October 30, 2020, Lamar Wilson sold his equity in the Company to Wood-Wilson Company, Inc., and Bruce Klingman became the sole shareholder and President. Lamar is continuing on with Wood-Wilson as a producer and account executive.
